Snow Day All Around the City

It is the biggest storm ever...of 2009. Flights out of area airports were canceled, NYC public schools were closed...and people still, generally, made it to work! And more snow is expected today.

Above are some photographs that readers have shared with us—many thanks to the contributors...and you can still share your snowy shots by sending them to tips(at)gothamist(dot)com or tagging them "gothamist" on Flickr. And check out Control Geek's cool time lapse of some evening-into-morning snow:

Thank you, though, truth be told, she also likes watching garbage flying in the air on windy days, too.

you spoil her, don't cha?!
has she even been out in the country?

Madison has never been in the country! She was going to be euthanized at a shelter when she was a few days old) but a cat rescue group took her in. I think her brain would explode in the country—so much to take in!

My cat loves snowstorms, too. I think she thinks there are tons of white bugs flying around outside.

Pic #3 is very Currier & Ives, but pic #8 less so. All those sedans diminish the romance of Victorian Flatbush in winter. Sorry but a car is not even half as romantic looking as a horse drawn open sleigh.

My dog left a nice trail of paw prints on my yard this morning. He really likes the snow.

Shouldn't that video read "March 1-2?" Or is it a glimpse into the future... which means we'll be getting more snow tonight?!? Shit!!

Madison looks like just my 3 year old tabby Remy who's currently enjoying a good sit rather than looking out the window.
