It was no contest. In a battle of weather legends Staten Island Chuck's month old prediction of an early spring was thoroughly pummeled by March coming in like a lion last night. Snowfall amounts generally ranged from 5-8 inches across the city this morning. More than a foot fell on eastern Long Island.
The city should see another couple of inches of snow by this afternoon as the nor'easter continues to make it's way up the coast. Strong winds, snow and blowing snow, and temperatures holding steady in the mid 20s are pretty close to blizzard conditions. Be careful, kids, if you are going sledding this afternoon.
The high winds and cold air rushing in behind the storm will make for wind chill readings in the single digits, at times negative single digits, through Wednesday morning. It will be sunny but the temperature won't climb out of the 20s until Thursday. A significant warm up, and probably rain, is on tap for the weekend.

Um, Staten Island Chuck's prognosticating skills were interrupted by a certain mayor.
