  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: a double stabbing at 10th Ave and Post Ave in Manhattan, a shooting on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx and a serious MVA on 1st St and 3rd Ave in Brooklyn.
  • A pedestrian was struck and killed overnight by a tow truck in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
  • The new Penn Station may put the shades down on Sunglasses Hut and several other local businesses.
  • Frankenstein facade: A developer has preserved the facade on the first two floors of a 1912 building, but stripped away the facade of the top seven floors and replaced it with a "new-old simulacrum of red brick and cast stone."
  • The federal government is said to be loosening up its terms on the AIG bailout and shooting another $30 billion the insurance giant's way.
  • White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said that Rush Limbaugh is "the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party.”

Rush Limabugh is an American Quisling. His only concern is the well being of the Republican Party. Ronald Reagan started this nonsense with his his 11th Commandment.
Limbaugh as much as said he wants President Obama (meaning the nation) to fail. His priorities are the those of the conservative movement and not those of the Nation. Don't underestimate him and keep the pressure up. Every Republican candidate has to be defeated or we'll wind up with the same problems. Remember, what the last refuge of a scoundrel is.

"" White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said that Rush Limbaugh is "the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party. ""

Smart move on the Dems part to keep associating the GOP with KKK types like Limbaugh.

I can't believe Paul Harvey passed away! I loved listening to that voice as a kid and now. I thought he was immortal.

I thought he was dead years ago.

I saw this kid in his big wheels car. It is important to note that he was taking up half the sidewalk and blasting rap music. I broke into an uncontrollable smile.

Just thinking out loud...
Happened to be in Connecticut against my will last week and now I'm HOOKED - gotta go back! I saw an angel! She's a newsgirl .. woman .. lady. Her name is Anjuli Porter and she is a SEXY anchorwoman at NBC in Hartford. Can't believe I saw this angel in a place as dead as CONNECTICUT! Have you been to there? Dont go. You'll regret it. Its where fun goes to die! Unless you're going to see Anjuli. She was worth the trip to hell!!!

that kid, another future douchebag, needs some Axe Jr. body spray too

No kidding. Who puts PIMPIN AIN'T EASY on their child's toy car? Starting them young for the Tool Academy.

The extremely sad part about Rush Limabugh is people actually believe what he has to say. The conservatives in the heartland had their chance with bush for 8 YEARS and look what he did. Now it's time to give the liberals a chance to run this country.

Don't worry. As Repub strategist Mike Murphy said on MTP this weekend, followers may clap and cheer and pat themselves on the back, but if Repubs don't fix themselves, that group will represent 25% of the population, a permanent minority with no teeth.

They own five states in the deep south. They are a Winn-Dixie franchise.

Following the example set by the "Ernest" franchise, I expect to see Madea go to camp fairly soon.

That picture just confirms everything that is wrong with parents in this city.

TEEN SCENE

When our son misbehaves, as most teenagers do,

We don't send him away to his room to review

All the foibles and faults and the imperfections

That require him to launch a cascade of reflections.

For banishment misses the point of true penitence

And amounts to a pitiful form of a senitence.

What, after all, fills that fabled cell

Where each grounded kid is likely to dwell?

Wall to wall, it's abundantly clear

That this bedroom is bursting with fanciful gear,

Electronic devices that amuse and instruct

In a way that no judge would rule that it sucked.

To begin with, there's a a laptop from Japan

Sporting wi-fi, a webcam and a software plan

To construct a screenplay that's sure to be snapped up

By Spielberg or Lucas, who'll see that it's wrapped up.

And then there's the latest iPhone model,

The medium of choice to exchange schoolboy twaddle.

Of course, a television set armed with TiVo

Stands ready to capture every Leave It to Beavo,

And what youngster's space would you ever see

That's possibly lacking a PlayStation 3?

So it's quite evident that his-room-as-a-jail

Will accomplish nothing and is bound to fail.

For punishment to affect someone

It had better be the opposite of fun.

How then to deal with a son in this biz?

Confine him to your room--and take over his!
