Seinfeld Goes The Reality Route

0209seinfeld.jpg Jerry Seinfeld is returning to television, but this time he's behind the scenes. The NY Times reports on the new reality series he's producing for NBC called The Marriage Refs, but he told them, “This is going to be a comedy show; I’m not interested in the reality of it.” The show, a brainchild of the comedians, will focus on "funny marital spats," but will be more like The Honeymooners than Dr. Phil (noting that TV therapy never works). Each episode will have a theme and will capture arguments based on this theme, footage of which will be used by a marriage ref in picking a winner of the argument. Hmm, we were hoping he'd make the judge-appointed butler idea a reality.

Oh, there's a bit of 'reality' waiting for Mr. Seinfeld...

    Jerry, don't do it.

I'd watch if he would fight Dr. Phil to the death. That would be some good television.

Why didn't NBC just throw a bunch of cash at Jerry to host their late show? It's more work for Jerry and more money for NBC, but it would have huge ratings as opposed to getting cancelled in 6 weeks.

Dumb idea for a show. The winner is always going to be the female. Any straight male in a relationship knows this.
