Enjoy Today's Warm Weather

Snow Drops in Morningside Park by some loser on Flickr.

Despite the received wisdom that meteorologists don't know what they're talking about, weather forecasts are usually highly accurate for a day or two into the future. Not this weekend. Between now and Sunday the city will have to deal with a dying storm arriving from the Midwest, a storm developing off the coast, an upper level disturbance and a couple of small high pressure systems. The overall pattern toward weather suckage is clear but the details are far from certain.

One certainty is today's warmth. Highs will be in the mid 50s except right along the shore. Rain from the dying storm should arrive this afternoon. It will most likely be a light rain unless that line of showers across Pennsylvania somehow lasts a few hours longer. Much cooler tomorrow with highs in the mid 40s unless it remains in the 30s.

March comes in like a snow leopard late Saturday night as a coastal storm pulls more cold air our way. Sunday morning looks like it will be snowy and sleety, or maybe rainy and snowy, or just snowy. The dividing line between rain and snow looks mighty thin. Monday is too depressing to talk about so let's just say a slow warming trend should start on Tuesday. At least the snow drops are starting to bloom in Morningside Park.

This is how EVERY weather forecast should be.

It might be hot, or it might be cold. It might rain, or it might not. Stay tuned for more meteorolgical magic. :)

Oh, Joe. You've never sounded so unsure of yourself.

Don't worry, I am just going through a phase.

(I have no idea what that means)

  • That "loser" takes "terrible" photographs.
