2 Woman Shot, 1 Dead, on East New York Corner

2009_02_lindbl.jpg Yesterday afternoon, a man shot two women in the head at Jerome Street and Linden Boulevard in the East New York section of Brooklyn. One woman, 22-year-old Janet Martinez, died while 19-year-old Kella Ocasio is in critical condition. The NY Times reports that Martinez had filed an assault complaint against the shooting suspect just hours before being killed: "She also had had a previous relationship with the suspect’s girlfriend, and had taken out an order of protection against her, the police said." But the Daily News says that Martinez and the suspect were previously involved, and Ocasio's relative said that the gunman was unhappy with the affair and had threatened Ocasio. A resident told NY1, "There was six shots, two over there and four over there in the middle of street. I couldn't believe it."
