Paterson's Poll Numbers Plummet

2009_02_dpaters.jpg The Siena Research Institute says that NY voters aren't very happy with Governor David Paterson. In the latest Siena New York Poll, 40% of respondents view the Governor favorably—while 47% view him unfavorably. This is "down from last month’s 54-30 percent favorable rating, and his high of 64-19 percent in November."

Further, his job approval rating is 28% positive and 69% negative— "down from 51-45 percent positive last month." More fun details: "In a hypothetical 2010 Democratic primary for Governor, Paterson trails Attorney General Andrew Cuomo 53-27 percent... In potential general election matchups, Paterson trails former Mayor Rudy Giuliani 51-36 percent, after leading Giuliani 44-42 percent last month and 51-38 percent in December. Cuomo leads Giuliani 51-38 percent. Paterson leads former Congressman Rick Lazio 46-28 percent, and Cuomo beats Lazio 66-16 percent."

Politicker NY reports that Paterson "attributed his dismal standing in a poll released today to an ad blitz attacking his plan for health care funding, as well as voters perception of the process of selecting Kirsten Gillibrand as senator." He did say, "I wouldn't have changed the senator that I picked. I think that, there was a point in that process when it started to become a bit of a circus, and I probably just should have ended it." No kidding!

Everything related to the USA is seemingly plummeting these days.

I like it.

Christ himself would be getting negative poll numbers in this shitstorm economy.
I wonder how 'Socks' Spitzer would have handled it.

He's doing whatever he needs to do and he doesn't care about poll numbers. Stay the course. He knows he's doing a great job. His poll numbers don't really reflect his performance. It's all because of his enemies. Bring it on. History will show that he was a great governor. No regrets. Wait, is this starting to sound a little familiar?

He'll always have that second week of last October...
