Cheryl and Vince Pierce, the Wyoming couple who purchased the Moondance Diner in 2007, have finally opened its restored doors in LaBarge. This all went down on January 12th, but new photos have come out showing the establishment in all its circa-1984 splendor.
The Pierces keep locals updated on news of the diner via their blog, and recently noted their expanded hours—so it looks like business is going well. And the diner itself is certainly looking better than it was when it first arrived at its new home. Meanwhile, its old stomping grounds on 6th Avenue will eventually house a hotel, which is currently set to look like this.

Is Martin Sexton's Diner song the theme song???
while the menu looks tasty - I'm scared to find out what the 'moonbits' are.
In NYC developers and property owners hate diners -- they are only one story and cannot produce much revenue. Therefore they close them and redevelop the property.
You will soon have to go to Alabama or Wyoming for genuine NYC character.

Funny thing is how many one story diners, theatres and what not in NYC were "taxpayers" that were built in the last depression by developers that gave up on their lofty schemes and settled for anything that could generate income. Let's see what really goes up on that lot...
It's so neat!
Enjoy it Wyoming!
Wow I thought the prices out there would be less.
So glad it still lives - but geeze NY has lost it soul. There are so many neighborhoods I avoid because of what is no longer here anymore
Cool!
I will be there this summer. Gives me another "destination" site. Shot my first elk not far from LaBarge 40 years ago. Such a great area. Only someone from Wyoming would take on a task like this. Can't wait to sit at the couter!!
we needed to do something different and fun for our 15th wedding anniversary. We drove 177 miles to be able to have dinner at the Moondance Diner and it was a treat! How often can we be able to say that we ate at a New York Diner...... BUT...... so happy that it's a lot closer in Wyoming. Much success to you and we'll be back.
