The Post reports that a woman was attacked and mugged while walking her dog in Central Park last night. The woman "said she was attacked at East Drive and 91st Street at about 9:45 p.m." Apparently the mugger hit her with a metal object and then took her "gold and diamond wedding ring and her watch," which were worth $15,000. She was treated at a hospital for a head laceration.

Why would ANYONE be in CP at that hour? Particularly that far north. Idiot.
Agreed.
well, to mug a woman walking her dog...
it was chilly and windy last night.
I'm glad she's OK, maybe she had a lot on her mind and thought a walk would be a good idea.
or, her doggie needed to do a number 2.
damn, a ring and watch worth $15K
You don't hear about too many wedding ring thefts. Even my simple white gold ring is probably worth quite a bit more than is in my wallet.
I thought it was common sense to more or less stay out of the park on your own after dark...
Sucks though.
In other news, the subway is dirty.
At 11, unrest in the Middle East.
to paraphrase Lt. Vincent hanna, you can get killed walking your doggie.
Sounds to me like she should get a different dog, preferably one that attacks muggers...
I'm not blaming the victim, but seriously what will it take for people to understand that Central Park or any park for that matter, is not safe after dark...
Learn to stay out of the ghetto. Only the real estate agents will call it ex-ghetto.
clearly these commenters don't live in the area. usually there are plenty of people walking their dogs in the park, on up til 11. I hope this incident isn't a harbinger of a return to the bad old 80's. NB, cadet class for new police officers cancelled, we're down from 40,000 to about 34,000 and that makes a difference.
My thoughts exactly. I'm always in the park after dark, and there are always plenty of people around. The big bad park after dark comments make me laugh.
ya rly thank u, not that bad of an area either plenty of people round, and btw they have a doberman so their dog is fine, and her son could wreck u
