Yesterday's rain was courtesy of a low that traveled well north of the city. That storm is strengthening over the Canadian Maritimes this morning, hence the cold and windy conditions. The temperature won't rise much above freezing today, which is ten degrees cooler than normal, and the wind chill will remain in the teens.
Tomorrow will be marginally warmer and less windy. Much more pleasant weather is in store for Wednesday. Look for mostly sunny skies and a high near 40. There's the slightest of chances that a few flurries will fly Wednesday night as a warm front scoots through town. Warm front? Yes, Thursday and Friday should see cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 40s.
The warm weather won't be long-lived. The upper atmosphere circulation has been stuck in a pattern where it loops up over the western half of North America and dips down over the east. Until that pattern breaks down it will continue to be warm in the west and cool in the east. A Friday night cold front will return us to cooler conditions for next weekend.
