The state's inspector general has concluded that a rep from the governor's office exerted improper influence over the state liquor board's vote on renewing the liquor license for the scandalized Cipriani Family. The report concerning Khari Edwards that the deputy of a former Paterson aide "finds that Edwards is ill-suited to serve as a representative of the governor's office, and recommends that his employment be terminated." Carl Andrews, the aide who Edwards served under, resigned abruptly in December. Edwards is accused of placing a call during the commission's meeting in August which led SLA Commissioner Jeanique Greene to say that she was "furious to have received such a call and, once she learned the call related to the Ciprianis, she knew it was inappropriate." The Cipriani vote ended up split on party lines with the two SLA members appointed by Democrats voting for renewal and SLA Chairman Daniel Boyle, a Pataki appointee, voting against. Boyle also has claimed that the Paterson aide who has since resigned, Carl Anderson, tried to intimidate him into a yes vote, but the inspector general was able to conclusively confirm that claim.

Btw, it is Carl Andrews, not Carl Anderson. Correct your typo.
Andrews is a corrupt, hack politician from Central Brooklyn whom Paterson appointed as an aide after Andrews lost his State Senate seat in 2006. When voters threw out this incumbent, it shows you how really bad Andrews is! Andrews is a close associate of Brooklyn Dem leader, Clarence Norman, who is doing time upstate for corruption and the selling of judgeships. Makes you wonder why Paterson hired him.
Before this scandal, Andrews was busy trying to influence the SLA on other matters: for example, threatening the Democratic SLA commissioners that Paterson would not renew their appointments unless they voted the way Andrews wanted them to vote on liquor licenses. Of course, Andrews was receiving 'favors' from the license applicants for these lobbying efforts while on the government payroll.
The SLA Chair, Dan Boyle, on the other hand, is a righteous Republican, a former cop who investigated police corruption in upstate NY. He is a real straight-shooter, the Elliot Ness of the SLA. In 2006 he replaced the corrupt Chair of the SLA, Tony Casale, who was being investigated by then Att-Gen Spitzer for corruption, and resigned instead.
Boyle, a Republican, realizes that Governor Mr. Magoo will not likely re-appoint him, so he has nothing to lose by being the straight-shooter that he naturally is.
Paterson, the son of another hack, machine-based politician from the "Harlem Clubhouse" could do the right thing and re-appoint Boyle.
Let's see how Mr. Magoo does.
I always wonder if young people in this country are either NAIVE or STUPID. Let's say conservatively they're a little of BOTH.
NEWSFLASH: A-L-L POLITICIANS (except Ron Paul) ARE CORRUPT THIEVING BASTARDS.
