The Knicks Keep Dealing

2009_02_larryhughes.jpg The Knicks continued the reshaping of their roster on Thursday with two trades. In the bigger deal, they acquired Larry Hughes from Chicago for Jerome James, Tim Thomas and Anthony Roberson. In the smaller deal they acquired Chris Wilcox from Oklahoma City in exchange for Malik Rose. Hughes gives the Knicks a solid scorer who can also play defense. Wilcox gives the Knicks a true big man. The trades should improve the team this season and shipping Jerome James off to the Bulls ends one of the worst free agent signings ever — 700 minutes on the court with the Knicks for $24 million.

they traded shitty mediocre players for shitty mediocre players with bigger contracts. what's new?

Wilcox is a true big man-but a shitty basketball player... Larry Hughes will hurl up about 12 shots a night—miss about 10 and sulk if he doesn't get playing time. The Knicks corner the market on mediocre selfish players. That Donnie Walsh-pure genius.

How can you guys possibly bitch about dumping certified BUMS like JJ, Tim Thomas and Malik Rose? Hughes will flourish in D'Antoni's system and Wilcox is an Oaktree like big man who gives them a physical presence. I'm not mad at this at all.

D'Antoni's system? Are you kidding me? Keep watching SportsCenter for updates on how well the system is working. The Knicks are becoming the Golden State Warriors of the east. Wilcox is a lummox-another non hustling overpaid blob in the middle. Larry Hughes couldn't hit an open jump shot if his life depended on it.

I would prefer the headline read, "Knicks finally rid of Stephon Marbury" but I'll settle for Larry Hughes' 6 point average and Chris Wilcox's occasional rebound and funny hair cut. They're both expiring contracts, so it doesn't matter anyway I will miss Tim Thomas though, no joke.
