Pint-sized Scandanavian Grace Kafé Opens in Park Slope

The owners of Scandinavian Grace, a design and housewares shop in Williamsburg, have opened the diminutive Kafé no. 2 in Park Slope. Tucked away in a boxy old garage space at 668 President Street off 5th Avenue, the spot is currently just serving Scandinavian sodas, candy, coffee (the Swedish Löfbergs Lila), cookies, and few pastries. On the shelves, however, are provisions like jams, syrups, more cookies, and yellow mustard—apparently a taste of things to come. Behind the counter is a giant poster depicting a man eating a hot dog; hot dog culture in Scandinavian countries, we were told, is apparently “strong.” In time, Scandanavian Grace Kafé will likely convert its compact basement into a small seating area, and there's talk of adding a few tables and chairs to the garden area behind the store.

Comparatively speaking, Kafé may have around 100 something square feet of space, if that; a few blocks over, IKEA has 346,000. Only one serves tasty coffee. Kafé no. 2 is open 11-7, seven days a week.

As much as I enjoy hot dogs, I'd love for more joints to sell a Swedish meatball sandwich (with lingonberries, natch).

It would be hard for them to beat the IKEA cafeteria and speciality food section they have just after the check out counters. Apparently they sell furniture there too.

I think you enjoy banning people who remind you that you live in a WAR CRIMINAL NATION much, much more.

Were you banned or simply referred to a competent mental health professional who has at least an outside chance of helping you?

Keep it up. Your new handle can be Tali-banned, too. I just have to wonder sometimes why trolls like you don't understand exactly why it is that you can't get any attention in real life.

Is that where OAK used to be?

I love that mustard. It is the only reason I go to Ikea.
