- Rangers 3, Islanders 1: Not only did the Rangers win, but they never trailed. They're in the worst swoon of their season, but that doesn't mean the Islanders could beat them. This was just the second win in regulation in their past 10 games. Scott Gomez's power-play goal gave the Rangers the lead for good in the second period. Nigel Dawes scored in the first and Fredrik Sjostrom added an empty-netter; Chris Drury also had three assists. Mark Streit gave the Islanders their only flash of brilliance in the first period.
- Mavericks 113 , Nets 98: How not to end an eight-game losing streak in Dallas. Get outscored 40-15 in the third quarter. The Nets may have gotten the better of the Mavs in trades (See Harris, Devin), but they can't win in Texas. Jason Kidd lit up his former team for 23 points and 10 assists. Antoine Wright, a forgotten part of that deal, had 20 points. They return home to face Washington on Friday.

Oh really? What exactly do the Rangers OWE the Islanders? Perhaps you meant that the Rangers OWN the Islanders.
Do you guys ever bother to read what you write? A cursory glance at a headline even?
A thank you for giving them a win during this slump.
ok, thanks for the clarification and ultimatelyu the revised headline.
I love this erroneous rant, because it's just like Emily Litella has come back to us.
"Never mind..."
gothamist writers don't believe in proofreading.
Well at least they beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers er Islanders... Considering they sucked royally against the inept Blues, false hope for the Stanley Cup springs eternal
No, false hope for the Stanley Cup does NOT spring eternal, but it would be nice to finish on an up note instead of falling completely out of contention. No one believes this team will be hoisting the Cup in June. (and I would like nothing better than to eat those words)
Speaking of proofreading, Nets 8? Sorry to be the one to point it out, Jen.
The Rangers do owe the Islanders some thanks. Thank you, Islanders, for being a terrible hockey team.
I'm not so sure I want to thank the Islanders. A loss may just have meant more pressure to dump Sather and Renney. I know that's probably wishful thinking. But watching this team is painful, and even if they make the playoffs, so what?
