Shooting Followed Argument Inside Cozy Soup 'n' Burger
More details have emerged about yesterday morning's shooting outside the Cozy Soup 'n' Burger restaurant on Broadway at Astor Place in Greenwich Village. According to the Daily News, a fight started inside the restaurant, which was "packed with customers" around 4 a.m.
Apparently a group of men came into the restaurant and taunted Omar Ramnarine and his friends. The News reports, "Moments after staffers tossed out the disruptive customers, one man pulled out a gun and fired several shots. One hit Ramnarine at point-blank range." 1010WINS adds that Ramnarine was shot in the neck, " Apparently, the victim ran from the scene of the shooting leaving a trail of blood all the way to 4th Avenue." He is in critical but stable condition at Bellevue.
Police are still looking for suspects and believe the shooting could be gang-related.
