Winter Reasserts Itself

There's a bit of a battle going on in the weather. Winter would like to remind everbody that it is still February. At the same time, the sun is now climbing high enough in the sky that it can feel very warm outside if you are in the sun and out of the wind. Enjoy the anti-wind chill if you can find a sheltered sunny spot, otherwise winter is going to win the battle this week and probably well into next week.

A large high pressure system will keep things cool, clear and a touch breezy today and tomorrow. Look for highs in the upper 30s. The sun gets interrupted on Wednesday for what currently looks like precipitation event that will start as snow and change to rain as warmer air arrives. Warmer, in this case being the low 40s.

The warmest day of the week will be Thursday, when the high should reach the mid 40s. The rain will end in the morning. As that system moves away it will draw much cooler air to the region. Look for highs only in the mid 30s on Friday and the weekend. Snow is a possibility on Sunday. Even cooler weather is expected early next week so don't put away your furry Ignatius J. Reilly hats just yet.
