Sen. Graham on Bipartanship Thus Far: 'The Country's Screwed'

2009_02_grahaml.jpg If you missed This Week with George Stephanpoulos, you missed Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) bickering with Senator Chuck Schumer about the federal stimulus package and negotiations. Schumer had just mentioned Republican amendments added to the package, and Graham said, "If I may say, if this is going to be bipartisanship, the country's screwed. I know bipartisanship when I see it. I've participated in it. I've gone back home and gotten primary opponents because I wanted to be bipartisan. There's nothing about this process that's been bipartisan. This is not 'change we can believe in.' You rammed it through the House. You started out with the idea of, 'we won, we write the bill.'" Luckily, you can see Graham's Potter Stewart-esque explanation here.

I love how many people blindly support this horrid bill.

oh he needs to come out of the closet already. another washington hypocrite.

  • sharpshoota

Graham is a piece of crap. Positioning himself already for the next election. Shameless. Obama needs to stop being a puss and ram the agenda through. They always did.

If that's the best the Republicans can do then the GOP is screwed.

  • Let me see if I get this right: Pres. Obama wisely tries to get the GOP (it was, they bitch and people say "um, you were consulted") to have some input into the bill, the same GOP that:

Despite reality, want's to continue their failed policies.

from the "Do Nothing" Congress ran the country to the ground fiscally (From a surplus to rampant deficit spending)

that wanted to eliminate the Filibuster (Not so much now...)

that called ANYONE that disagreed with them "Communist", "Socialist", "Anti-American", "Unpatriotic", "terrorist sympathizer", etc

And now they claim that the Democratic party is NOT attempting "bipartisanship"???

    ...

What color is the Sky in Senator Lindsey Graham's world? I'm guessing he'd have to consult with his leader, Rush Limbaugh for an answer...

    Exactly!

    poor central planning (oxymoron).

    (more like redundant)

Let South Carolina go down with this pig. Cut them out of the stimulus package.

I bet that NYC and NYS will receive more money than SC with this bill. So Graham has every right to be pissed especially at Chucky for making his citizens pay for projects that NYS left unfunded due to poor central planning (oxymoron).

The congressional democrats are far more hardline than the Obama administration. I can understand Graham's frustration that said only THREE (3!) Republican signed on to the stimulous bill. That's just sour grapes on the Republican end.
