Yesterday morning, a 42-year-old taxi dispatcher was fatally shot outside his apartment building on Decatur Avenue near East 207th Street. Police say that Michael Lorge was shot twice in the back of his head and his wallet was not taken.
According to the Post, the police are looking at "possible motives, including an arrest of Lorge in 1998 for sexual assault, and an ongoing dispute he had with his landlord over the status of his rent-controlled apartment in the Norwood section." Lorge was scheduled to go to Housing Court this week: He paid $257/month for a five-room apartment that could command over $1,500. However, when the Post asked Lorge's landlord about the killing, he said, "I don't know anything about it. Nobody's been in touch with me. I know nothing about a murder."
Lorge lived in his apartment with his partner Paul Garrison. Garrison tearfully told the Daily News, "My life ended when his did. He was everything to me. The last thing I said to him this morning was 'I love you,' and he said, 'I love you, too.' I'm going to miss him so much."

Horrible. Even if the victim had a dispute with a landlord, what landlord would resort to this? Something is very wrong with this picture. Also, was he merely arrested for sexual assault or was he convicted?
