After spending an awkward Groundhog Day together, Staten Island Chuck wants Mayor Bloomberg to know that he's sorry. The Staten Island Advance reports that the Staten Island Zoo's resident groundhog "sent some Valentine's Day affection toward Mayor Michael Bloomberg to apologize for biting him during a Groundhog Day celebration... To mark the mayor's birthday, which coincides with V-Day, and to get back on good terms with the man who holds the purse strings for a portion of the Zoo budget, Chuck offered Bloomberg a heart-shaped box filled with chocolates as an olive branch."

To refresh our memory of when Chuck bite through Mayor Bloomberg's glove (the mayor was trying to lure him out, but unwisely tried to take away Chuck's cob of corn away), here's the video:

Groundhog Day

You can see Chuck today and tomorrow. Check here for times. And if anyone wants to send Mayor Bloomberg a gift for his 67th birthday, might we suggest the Viva Chuck t-shirt?

This was all Chuck's personal assistant's idea.

Chuck should have sprung for some real chocolate instead of Hershey's chocolate scented brown wax.

That was the best he could do at Duane Reade.

LOL. I know the selection DReade is limited. That pic with the groundhog with the box of chocolates is ridiculous cute.

Chuck's working the press. This god PR may get the SI Zoo some extra funds.

Is that groundhog shit in the background behind Chuck?

heh, heh, I believe it is! Good eyes, blablanyc!
Once again, Chuck found a way to express his opinion about this political ass kissing done in his name.

Oh, please, the poor rodent expressed himself clearly enough when given the chance. Why ruin it?
