It's a beautiful day outside, but if you need to brighten yours up a bit more why don't you take this express train to Brighten Beach! Though don't expect anything different from what you'd find here.
Previously on this week's signage errors: take the G to Brodaway, and the inconsistent Do Not Lean font. What's fun is that it seems like the more typos people find, the more new mistakes pop up. (And it's also nice not to be on the receiving end of all this nit-picking for ounce.<--Kidding!) If you catch anything awry on your commute, send a photo to: tips(AT)gothamist(DOT)com.

I have a Forgotten NY page in prep about this. There are a lot more. I may have to move it up on the schedule.

Bring on teh typos!
Here's one for you, taken in December 2008:

That is reeeally cute.
Expect more of this as the school system cranks out one generation after another of semi-literate ignoramuses.
...and they're all employed through civil service.
I'm still waiting for Train to "Manhatten".
it's been on some city documents before.
These typo will never happen in Chinese.
And these typos are a great way for MTA
to ask for more money from us,
because they won't fix it, and
they don't use the money to fix it.
MTA would use the money for something else,
and next year, it wants the money again to fix it,
and.... you get the picture??
"Queeens" is just the vernacular spelling of the famous "Queens whine" that Fran Dresher make so famous.
MTA be dumb yo.
Is this real? It totally reminds me of www.thatsnotfake.com
The Sabre Dance by Aram Khachaturian
Trombones sound
frenetic
Reverberating blasts like subway music
Rushing at you
Louder Louder
No breath of fresh air
Not cool
Not hip
Not jazzy
Disonant horns startle
Like the dream where
A dark underground train
Hurtles toward you
While you stand alone
Watching dim light flicker
As a tunnel opens wide
A mouth gaping
Like Munch's painting
Roaring out of the dark
Repeated again and again
And again
The music's scream
Never stopping at your platform.
There are also multiple signs on the roads in Central Park directing folks to the "Times Square Shuffle" rather than Shuttle.
Uh...you do know that the Times Square Shuffle is a real thing? Why would drivers need the Times Square Shuttle?
Anyways, the Shuffle refers to cars traveling south on Seventh Avenue no longer being able stay on Seventh Avenue when they reach Times Square. They must proceed south to Broadway.
If this were a sign sending midtown tourists to the south bronx, I'd be concerned. But seriously...do we really want the MTA spending money fixing typos that have zero effect on a passenger's trip? Give them a break, there's probably hundreds of thousands of signs in the system, a few are going to have typos.
Oh, right, this is Gothamist, where it's therapeutic to point out other people's mistakes. My bad.
I have a boss who can't spell, friends and co-workers who can't spell, and know some very sophisticated rich people...who can't spell. But this? I'm in shock!
So what? I've seen misspelled street signs and whatever in almost every city in which I've spent a significant amount of time. It happens, and it doesn't matter.
