The Prospect Park Zoo red pandas have been AWOL for zoo visitors because they've been getting busy. According to the Daily News, the adorable animals—Mae Lin and Qin—have been amorous. Facility director Denise McClean explains, "They're having private moments."

The zoo hopes Mae Lin becomes pregnant, but the pair haven't always been cozy: Zoo animal supervisor Dominick Dorsa said, "Mae Lin's the boss. She let him know that she's going to run the situation... She's a diva. She's the Mariah Carey of the red panda world. She knows she's got it, and she knows everybody wants it."

The Prospect Park Zoo doesn't haven't any videos of Mae Lin and Qin online, so check out this video of its Pallas cats enjoying Christmas presents:

And in the wake of Governor Paterson's proposed cuts to NYC's zoos and aquarium (see this video), you can sign this petition to support the Wildlife Conservation Society.

I was really hoping for some hot panda-on-panda action. But instead there's just a big kitty. I'm sorely disappointed, Gothamist.

I am too. These are of DC's Giant Pandas:

Better Dead than Red!!

(Does that apply to pandas?)

Or as the New York Post would likely put it:

"Sex PANDA-MONIUM at PPZ!."
