With their season at a crossroads, the Rangers are trying to bring back an old friend. Get ready for the return of Sean Avery to Broadway. Avery, who is currently in a treatment program for talking about how Dion Phaenuf was dating his “sloppy seconds”, has started skating again and could be back in the NHL shortly. The thing is the Dallas Stars, who coincidentally play the Rangers tonight, don’t want him back and are trying to rid themselves of his contract.
Normally, Dallas could assign Avery to their AHL affiliate, but Dallas doesn’t have one of their own right now and would need another team’s permission to do that. The Rangers would be more than happy to let Dallas send him to their affiliate, Hartford, and assuming he behaves they could bring him back to the NHL while only being responsible for half his contract.
And if this all comes together circle March 30th on your calendar. That’s when the Devils and Rangers square off and Martin Brodeur and Sean Avery could get a chance to resume their “friendship”.

They certainly need something. Maybe he can be a spark.
I think everyone knew this guy wouldn't last long in Dallas.
hate or love him - he's a total punk and he would fit right back in.
oh man here's hoping. it would be great to get the Grate One back, at a discounted rate too.
I agree, bring him back. He fits into NY quite appropriately.
The Rangers need a pure goal scorer, not another checking forward who will be a major distraction.
Bring him back.
Avery is a joke...has moderate talent and a big mouth. His bark is WAY louder then his bite...
Martin Brodeur would likely disagree.
Bring him back.
MSG isn't on Broadway.
Or is that some Rangers reference I don't get?
Oh jesus, you should probably refrain from commenting on hockey posts.
"Or is that some Rangers reference I don't get?"
Yes.
Demented Americans running around like adolescent morons and beating others into a bloody pulp using huge sticks.
I thought they were closing Gitmo!
Most hockey players arent American and they dont run they skate...
Except most of them are Canadian, European, or Russian.
Douche.
