Gwyneth Swears Off the Haters

0209gpelle.jpg After Gwyneth Paltrow retaliated in a British Elle magazine interview, saying: "Fuck the haters!", NYMag dared to guess why the public absolutely abhors the actress, coming up with twelve reasons. In the Elle interview (for their March issue) she says: "I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me and for a second your ego is so wounded...How could people hate me, my intentions or what I'm trying to do?" Well now the NY Post is taking a stab at the question, and it turns out everything that is loathed about her is represented at her new website: GOOP, which E! Online's Ted Casablanca sees as clashing with her true personality, saying,"She is not an accessible person, and trying to market herself as such makes no sense." So where is the real Gwyneth? Maybe some past quotes will shine some light on her.

  • "I am who I am. I can't pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year."
  • (Regarding the English response to the 7/7 terrorist attacks) "There were no multiple memorials, with people sobbing as they would have been in America."
  • (She smoked when pregnant) "The last cigarette I smoked was the day I found out I was pregnant with Apple. I had to sit down and smoke one final cigarette."
  • (She hates America) "I love the English lifestyle, it’s not as capitalistic as America. People don’t talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner. I like living here because I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology."
  • (On Shallow Hal?) "I just do things I think will be interesting and that have integrity. I hate those tacky, pointless, big, fluffy, unimportant movies.”
C'mon you tacky, sobbing Americans, where's the love?

Maybe because she's a terrible, worthless actress who plays the same idiotic character in every movie?

"I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me..."

Was it something we said or maybe it was Gawker.

All the even handed comments so far are right on. Spanish fluency and "Iron Man" make her rock but those unexpected, tactless, gaffes end up canceling out the good.

Gwenny, I hope you're still doing "Iron Man 2". Pepper Potts is the best PR you'll ever have with average Americans.

  • Clarice City

Gwen honey, you have a high school level of education. You couldn't bother yourself for long enough to commit to becomming educated like the rest of us.

    Shut the f-ck up already.

Shallow Fishsticks Paltrow, still a useless ugly twat after all these years. Britain can have her. That's where all the losers who can't make it in America go. And we all know she ran off like a coward to the UK to get away from Brad Pitt mania.

I agree with her on how lame American culture and Americans are. And she's totally hot.

She was GREAT in "Ripley" and good in "Iron Man"..She has a right to her opinion. The reaction validates what's she's saying..in America you can't critique "averageness".

  • laisla

She has a right to her opinion. Just as everyone else has a right to their opinion.

She just runs her mouth and says the most ridiculous things. Some people are much better off just looking good and not saying a word, she is one of them.

She is pompous, arrogant and highly privileged. And she's not even that great of an actress.

Maybe if she was able to actually act she might get a little more respect.

She's just a she's just a rich spoiled buttaface who's living off her family's name.

  • tingo

What brat. "... not as capitalistic as America..."? STFU rich biatch, easy for you to say. I hope she stays there. I guess it's easy to disparage everyone else when you're born rich.

I was watching Mario Batali's Spain Roadtrip the other night and she was sometimes one of the guests on his food tour. It was hilarious because you could tell Batali couldn't stand the pompous, slow-talking woman (you know...those people who talk slowly because they think it makes them sound...you know....deep). Batali had brought ringed pastries to breakfast which were made with lard...lied to her straight up and said "oh yeah, totally made with butter."

Anyway, I love Britain and London a great deal, but I don't have illusions about the UK having its bad side as well (snotty and arrogant)...oh wait, she does fit in with their bad side!

She was doing well redeeming herself in that program for a while, she wasn't a constant downer. That is, until anything pork or meat was presented and she always made a scene about how omg I can't eat that, make it go away, someone eat it all fast so it isn't in front of my eyes! But she'd gobble up all the seafood and wine as fast as popcorn. Batali loved rubbing the deliciousness of pork in her face and good on him. Be a vegetarian, be what you want, but don't be an obnoxious sneering hypocrite about it. She gained two points from me, then lost them a minute later.

'Snotty and arrogant' until their economy collapses and then the lovely Gwinny and everyone else there will be back in the welsh coal mines scraping the sides for a lump of anything that can resurrect their fallen lives. Of course she can always just make another movie, right? I'd suggest a romantic comedy with Jimmy Fallon where she has to literally ingest his "humor". That would be good for a laugh and put another pennyfarthing in her tattered Prada vest.

"I'd suggest a romantic comedy with Jimmy Fallon where she has to literally ingest his 'humor'."

I hope this was a four humors joke. If so, wakka wakka!

Famous women have to take so much abuse men never do.

A lot of famous men are convicted of beating/abusing women and children and never get the scorn directed towards women who are guilty of being rich, good looking and famous.

  • chuzzlewit

i shock myself giddy sometimes with how much i hate her.

i am like an army of termites nonstop building my paltrow hate mound, it aint healthy.

  • Mr Mel

Anyone who spends a dime to see anything she's in or supports, should understand she's not on your side. I'm glad she's not Jewish.

  • JRod5417

I believe she is half Jewish and one hundred percent obnoxious.

  • MFer

    "I'm glad she's not Jewish."

Well, I'm glad you're not Jewish either.
