0209coney.jpg EXHIBIT: The Municipal Art Society has been slowly releasing imaginative renderings (pictured) of what Coney Island could look like, and now the non-profit will present them for public viewing. Tonight they open "a broad-based exhibit on Coney Island featuring 350 design ideas from the public, as well as the results of two public workshops and a design workshop with leading amusement professionals. The ImagineConey exhibit includes public submissions from around the world, as well as plans and designs from world-class architects, amusement designers and economists compiled during a charrette, an intense design workshop."

SCIENCE: Get your nerd on at the latest installment of the Secret Science Club with this installment's guest: "Intrepid neurobiologist (and scuba diver) Vincent Pieribone." He'll lure you "into the depths—where ocean research and brain science collide," and answer questions like: What makes undersea animals glow? Tonight the Club will also welcome Marine Biologist David Gruber to discuss coral reef ecology. Cocktail of the night: the Sea Shandy, a phosphorescent libation that will snap your synapses.

EVENT: Will the Park Slope stroller set be gathering en masse at Babeland tonight? The shop will be hosting "How To Please Your Man," where "Babeland Sex Educators will teach you everything we know about the joys and merits of hand jobs, blow jobs, and prostate stimulation. Enhance your techniques, learn new positions, and get tips for more fun in bed." Blush!

THEATER: Eccentric portrait photographer Mike Disfarmer (1917-1956) used glass plate photography long after it was obsolete, compiling an arresting body of work documenting his small-town Arkansas neighbors, spanning the Dust Bowl days to the post-War era. His strange, obscure life has now inspired a bewitching puppet-theater piece created by Dan Hurlin (Hiroshima Maiden) at St. Ann's Warehouse. Performed with a single Bunraku-style puppet, about three feet tall, with a live score for banjo, accordion and fiddle, the production evokes the era's desperate courage with gentle humor and grace.
