Atria Restaurant in Midtown Gives Grayz an Artsy Angle

The former Grayz restaurant space in midtown has been tweaked into the ambitious Atria, serving "Modern European" cuisine by Bavarian chef Martin Brock (Café Gray, Grayz). Named for the eight story atrium vaulted above the main dining room, the restaurant underwent a bit of a facelift since severing its association with celebrated chef Gray Kunz.

Most notably, the former town house (once owned by John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his family in the early 1900s) now features a dramatic installation by local artist Shaun Acton, whose large kinetic "scrollatropes" rotate above the main dining area on the lower level. Meals are also served upstairs in the no-reservations bar and lounge.

The restaurant opened last month with prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus for $24.07 and $35, respectively. This week Brock also begins serving the full menu, pasted below.
