SNL Sets Their Sights on Paterson Once More

2009_01_FArmDPat2.jpg With Governor Paterson's reelection prospects appearing to dwindle as the months go by, there's a very realistic possibility that he could end up a footnote in history as the man who merely finished up Eliot Spitzer's disastrous administration. But SNL's Fred Armisen seems to be doing his best to see to it that his caricature of the "accidental governor" as a Catskills comedian makes its mark and lives on in SNL political specials and DVD compilations of days to come. Last night Armisen's Paterson said he wasn't too worried about his reelection chances because, "I don't really do elections. I'm more of a 'oh no what are we gonna do?!' last resort type of guy."

The last time SNL lampooned Paterson during Weekend Update, the show drew harsh criticism from the governor for their treatment of him. We're guessing that last night's visit to the Update desk won't draw the same kind of fire as these days mocking the governor has become a hobby for local papers.

Armisen seemed to be doing overtime on impressions duty last night, rehashing his portrayal of a lonely Bernie Madoff and doing his first cold opening as President Obama (guess those rumors of hiring a black comedian to play him after the election have proven false). Those clips are after the jump.

Next week on SNL, making their debut as musical guests will be Brooklyn's TV on the Radio!

Last night's Paterson bit didn't spoof his blindness as much as last night. It was also heavy on NJ jokes, which I sorta appreciate because it's so corny.

Yeah, unlike the previous "impression", which was just a bunch of generic "he's blind so he can't see things!" jokes, this weekend, they actually tried to do an impression of Patterson. And I think they did a pretty good job of it. I admit, thought, that I fall for any anti-NJ/upstate NY jokes.

The Paterson Parody is already getting stale. But TV on the Radio sounds worth tuning in for!!

I cannpt believe this is still on tv, anyone who laughs at this shit is mentall ill.

I agree with citizenerased, SNL is crap and has been for years.

[[Insert SNL hate bandwagon banter here]]

Hey SNL Haters: if your opinion is that the show has been crap for years you must be tuning in every week. And if your opinion is just based on a sampling of Monday morning Hulu... well then you have no opinion.
