Schumer Would Need to Pull a Mark Foley to Lose in 2010

2009_02_schumer.jpg The last time Chuck Schumer ran for reelection for his Senate seat in 2004, he was victorious by the widest margin in state history at 71% to 24%. Right now it appears that he could top that in his bid for reelection next year. With the mayor going for a third term, Giuliani and Lazio considering a shot at the state house and Peter King already eying the Senate seat now held by Kirsten Gillibrand, Republicans are essentially looking for a jobber to throw up against Chuck. When asked who might run, Conservative Party chief Mike Long said, "If you're trying to ask a 'gotcha' question, I guess you got me." One poli-sci professor described it, "You've got (Muhammad) Ali in one corner and a couple of guys from the high school gym in the other." But with the recent attention drawn to his lax standards for Wall Street before the economic crisis, GOP operative Roger Stone thinks Schumer should be considered more vulnerable saying, "He should be the poster child for the financial meltdown." The last time a Republican won a Senate race in New York was 1992.

The media has conveniently brushed aside all the vitriol that rightfully should directed at Schumer, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and yes, Pres. Obama (Fannie Mae was his biggest campaign contributor during his legislative career), so I don't see Schumer becoming the poster child. It wouldn't matter anyway since the NY GOP doesn't have a single legitimate contender for any statewide office. Even Giuliani would be a hard sell at this point.

We once had a system of senate term limits: DEATH.
But, modern medical science will create a huge batch of near zombies approaching 100 years who won't stop coming to the Senate to babble and vote until they really die (life support doesn't count).

We need to get scumbags like this out of office. These career politicians on both sides of the isle are a msjor reason why we are in this mess.

Which isle are you referring to, Gilligan's?

>>>Republicans are essentially looking for a jobber to throw up against Chuck.

I suggest the Brooklyn Brawler, Jimmy Wang Yang or the Unpredictable Johnny Rodz.

Schumer is a walking, grinning pile of shit.

Term limits indeed. Time to make this slimey bolshevik try and earn a living in the real world doing a real job. That goes for a lot of people in government.

Democrats are in complete denial that they're in this shit up to their eyebrows.

Remember, Chuck Schumer thinks it's perfectly ok for hedge fund and private equity guys to pay the long term capital gains tax rates on their millions in compensation.
