After President Obama added his voice to the outrage over Wall Street bonuses (2008 was the 6th biggest year for them), Wall Streeters are speaking out on the bum rap they are getting and the NY Times was ready to listen. An investment banker said, "People come here because they want to work hard and get paid a lot for working hard. I think there’s a disconnect between Wall Street and Main Street," while an insurance broker offered, "My bonus is ‘shameful’ — but I worked hard to get it. I’m a HENRY. High Earner but Not Rich Yet.” And a lawyer added his spin, "The way we pay our taxes is bonuses. The only way that we’ll get any of our bailout money back is from taxes on bonuses. I think bonuses should be looked at on a case by case basis, or you turn into a socialist.” Related: Bank of America is looking to spread out its 2008 bonuses over three years, with the first payment coming next year.

so we give them taxpayer money cause they can pay their taxes on bonuses ang give it back to us? wtf???? It's trickle down economics all over again.
I've said this before... but I probably put more hours than these people do a week. Where's my Television bailout and bonus dammit? I'd be more than pleased if I made $112,000 a year.
they really hate poor people, don't they?
thankfully Pb is still cheap.
In a logic world, workers should get bonuses based on the value and sub-sequential profits of the company. If said company reported a loss, or went bankrupt, you are not entitled to anything! Even less with other people's money!
Freaking disgusting. Like the guy who redecorated his office or Citigroup's jet. Give me a break already. That's why these companies are failing, they don't hire smart people who think about what's best for their company.
"People come here because they want to work hard and get paid a lot for working hard"
Do these guys really think they work harder than everyone else?
""The way we pay our taxes is bonuses."
If you need a big lump sum payment at the end of the year in order to pay taxes on what you earned previously (you don't have to pay taxes on the bonus, after all, if you don't get it), obviously you've mismanaged your money through the year. Which I guess is not surprising for people working in an industry that has essentially mismanaged its money across the board.
IS ANYONE GONNA START KILLING THESE F*KING BASTARDS????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????//
These guys should stand outside in the freezing cold like day workers and see what working hard for your money is. They are all a bunch of money grubbing assholes.
In a best case scenarios they would take a long ride out in the ocean in their yachts and drown in a storm, or crash their corporate jets in a series of huge fireballs into their summer homes.
They should be made to take a bus if they have to travel. If they do generate a profit move them up to a train. If they need to drive, get the cheapest rate from Alamo and have them share the ride.
Hear that? That is the sound of the government growing larger and more intrusive.
Absurd, even more when you consider that a lot of the money that went out in last year's bonuses in certain sectors was from bloated real estate profits that lead to this catastrophe. They're like hogs at the trough, squealing for more right up to the bitter end.
From the NYT article:
> Say I’m a banker and I created $30 million. I should get a part of that.
Created $30 million?
Say if you were a banker or a stock broker and you lost $30 million shouldn't you get a part of that also?
"Created....." fabricated, made-up... yeah, that sounds about right for the trillions of phantom dough that's out there crashing the world's economy.
Those greedy bastids should be sweeping our streets. For free!
Socialism. They keep using this word.
I do not think it means what they think it means.
Are you Freakin kidding me? People in NYC, especially Manhattan, are so unaware of how the rest of the world lives....There is not one thing outside of saving lives that deserves the kind of money these people get paid. They are self important, self entitled, money grubbing swine! I should know I live in a small illegal sublet on the upper east side and see these absurd people daily!
"Only the little people pay Taxes!"
Leona Helmsley 1989 Right before her conviction on Tax evasion.
Bernie Madoff has their fucking bonus.
Turkey MFers.
Some guy on TV said 'the American public should share some of the blame for having a savings rate close to zero.' The American public should kick that guy in the balls. It's leeches like that who have more than encouraged a credit-based economy because they can get much more from fees and interest.
Bonus ?
I will compute at $20 an hour, the most,
and then subtract the wage each already got.
If your w-2 is already more than $40,000
That's it. No more bonus.
So, if your w-2 says $38,000, you get $2,000
You worked hard for bonus ? bull S##t!!
Do you know what bonus is ?
It is what's left over, after what you worked hard for.
Bonus is what your boss has left over,
after paying everyone else,
after repaying the loan from the taxpayers.
