Mets Fans Who Want Man Ram

Last night, a Mets fans descended on the SNY studios to voice their desire for the Mets to sign Manny Ramirez. priced out of the citi reports on the "Sign Manny" rally, which was publicized on Mets message boards:

The crowd was a bit smaller than expected (approximately 30 people), but boisterous nevertheless. Chants of "We want Manny!" were screamed throughout the show - with one fan even doing so through a megaphone. Signs plastered the glass of the studio with images of the 36 year old right-hander.

The leader of the pack, and focus of SNY's outdoor coverage, even had a customized Mets Ramirez jersey. When asked where he got it, he said his mother got it for him. "She's an even bigger Manny fan than I am!"

Let it be noted that the Mets Ramirez jersey-wearing leader of the pack also had on a dreadlock wig to complete the look.

There had been talk of the Yankees being interested in the eccentric player, but lately, the Mets have been touted as a potential suitor.

  • I think the overpriced tool would look pretty friggin amazing between Wright and Delgado.

He has a ton of friends and family in New York, and perhaps Omar could keep him on the straight and narrow.

NY has had plenty of fathead egotists in it's day so one more ain't gonna hurt. You guys want another championship? I say sign the guy.

Met fans want him? Really? The guy's a total over priced tool.

  • jaycjay

Well, 30 Mets fans do anyway.

Sports has gotten absurd in the past few years, especially baseball. As far as I am concerned, baseball died August 11, 1994. After the strike it seemed to be a drug filled and municipality threatening racket. Thanks Bud Selig.

This article makes the point more eloquently than I did:

I think they're doing it on purpose to be annoying, or possibly even have the gall to think they can coin a new nickname. I too find it stupid and unimaginative and I tell them so every time, but they persist in using it. It's symptomatic of a greater stultification in "journalism." Gone of the days of real nicknames like The Splendid Splinter or the Sultan of Swat. All these hacks can muster these days is abbreviations, like a-rod etc. It's sad, how low the level has sunk. These people supposedly want to write and be journalists, but they are lazy and under educated and have to resort to puerile shit like this.

Idiots. Don't they have something better to do than worry about sports?

  • NannyState

I'm a Mets fan but this shit makes me want to wear Phillies caps this year.

I hope these Met fans enjoy paying $10 for a hot dog at Bailout Field
