Toddler Hitler's Dad: "Enough's Enough"

2009_01_todhit.jpg The NJ father who gave his children Nazi-themed names gave an interview with MyFoxNY, to decry his family's treatment by the state authorities. Heath Campbell complained that his children were removed from their home only because of their names—and that the state isn't taking care of his kids.

Three-year-old Adolf HItler Campbell became (in)famous when his father told the media that a local Shop-Rite wouldn't inscribe a third birthday cake with "Happy Birthday, Adolf Hitler" (the supermarket would only write "Happy Birthday" and leave room for the parents to finish the inscription). As it turned out, the tot's younger siblings were named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, and the family and their desired cake became an topic of national discussion. More recently, the children were removed from their parents, apparently over safety concerns.

Campbell and wife Deborah saw their kids for the first time, since they were taken, on Monday, and Campbell was aghast at their conditions, noting that one baby's diaper was leaking and that the kids' hair was in knots. He said there was no evidence of abuse, "They don't know us. If they lived in our home, they wouldn't take our kids away."

MyFoxNY noted that Campbell was speaking in violation of a gag order; he said, "Enough's enough. I can't take no more. Whether they jail me or not, I don't care. These are my children." The hearing over the children has not been held yet because the Campbells are waiting for a court-appointed attorney. The Campbells have also accused local authorities of harassing them.

Jerry Springertime for Hitler and Germany...

These parents are sick giving their kids these names, but the authorities didn't have the right to take the kids. Shitty situation. Poor kids.

We don't know the facts of the case, so it's impossible to say whether or not the State was right in taking the children. After the debacle in Texas, I would hope that they would make sure everything was legit.. but then again it is NJ state government.

The thing is, that naming your kids something like that obviously shows a huge lack of judgement for their concern about the kids, and probably highlighted other parts of their parenting that shows they have a screw loose, and can't be trusted. It is smart of the authorities to check out this situation because God knows what else they may be exposed to. It's a fine line, but better safe than sorry.

I completely agree with the authorities checking the situation and monitoring the parents (they definitely 'have a screw loose'). The problem is the preemptive strike. You have to wait to until the person commits a crime before you punish.

The girl had little knots in her hair - or little Nazis? (Cue Rimshot)

Seriously, this is bullcrap! These kids have not been abused or neglected in any way (as far as anyone has been able to prove). The authorities are just picking on this family because they happen to have unpopular political beliefs. What if I were Muslim and wanted to name my kid Osama Bin Laden, would that make me an unfit parent? (I realize that's an extreme example, but I'm trying to prove a point)

Agreed. The parents are still pretty sick (in my opinion) but you can't arrest someone (or take away their kids) based on political beliefs.

Children's Services might have had concerns over the mental well-being of the children. As chickblao stated, the seemingly benign naming-of-the-children possibly alerted the authorities to investigate other aspects of the children's lives. They are, no doubt, going to receive a mental health evaluation but if nothing else is going on, I'm sure the children will be returned in a timely manner...that is, unless it gets hairy in which I'm sure the ACLU will gladly step in.

Yes. And it's been mentioned before that the police were aware of this family WELL before the Hitler birthday cake incident, so we have no idea what else was going on, or the dossiers they might have had on the kids before this, which might have prompted Family Services to step in.

poor kids, if there is no evidence of abuse or neglect then those kids should be return to their parents.

Does anyone else think he looks like the bad guy from Kindergarten Cop?

I was thinking, at least in the still, Harry Connick Jr.

You all are speaking as if you know the facts of why the children were removed, which you do not. Nothing has been revealed about what the alleged abuse was that caused the removal of the children. The only thing mentioned thus far has been that the removal was not prompted by the naming of the children.

So instead of being writers of "Modern Jackass" Magazine, maybe you should wait until all the facts come out.

LOL. Good point. I wasn't aware.

Wait a second. You weren't aware? You posted 3 comments indicating that the State was wrong, and you had no idea about any of the facts (or lack thereof)?

Seriously, if social services is found to have unjustly taken these kids away from their parents is someone culpable for the trauma of the parents or children? I guess the line between kidnapping and 'removal for safety concerns' is a badge.

Based on the Texas incident, it doesn't seem like anyone is culpable. However it may be that the FLDS doesn't want to sue the government.

the names are as retarded as the parents! The kids will cursed by their family stupidity!

But it isn't A fact that stupid people are the ones populating the planet by millions everyday?

Taking the kids away from this family is not gonna make stupids go away.

I believe the children were taken away to make more room in their parents home so they can have more children. Baby Goring and baby Goebels are on there way. The state was concerned about overcrowding.

Wow what a stereotype. A duster and a long ass ponytail ... I bet he has some sweet Morpheus shades somewhere too.

This is what happens when you fuck with a kitchen staff.

If the state started taking kids from every ignorant, racist d-bag out there we'd need a whole new 'stimulus' package to pay for it.

A western state (Nebraska IIRC, but don't quote me) recently enacted a law providing amnesty to those abandoning children, meant to keep newborns out of dumpsters. They had to adjust it when people started dumping kids as old as 17 because they were unmanageable.

Gag Order? You mean that the government can take away your children and then tell you that you can't talk or complain about it? Does the judge in charge think he's in Stalin's (or Putin's) Russia?

Actually in Family Court cases they often ask the participants not to speak to the press, try to keep the court hearings closed, etc. The rationale is to protect the privacy and dignity of the children involved in the case.

I just want my kids back. And if doing exactly what they told me not to do will accomplish that, that's what I'll have to do.

Gothamist and Fox news—quite a pairing. Both would report on pigeon droppings if they could garner the "Exclusive"... This type of journalism is beyond the pale

His wife puts the MILF in Milford.

I mean, am I right people?

I'm all for keeping the media frenzy going as long as possible -- as long as they keep upping the ante on the minority reporters they send to interview this guy.

I'm rooting for Fox to send an African American-lesbian-rabbi-reporter next to mess with this guy's head.

I rooting for the judge to toss him in jail for breaking the gag order... it'll then just be a matter of days before his wife does the same thing...

It's HIS KIDS moron. I'm rooting for the M10 to splatter you the second you step off the curb.

Another American who's come to realize that "freedom & democracy" only last until the moment you step out of line.

Thanks for posting that link. It sheds light on the aryan nation thriving in the woods out there. My favorite part is that they hoped the authorities would release the kids to grandma who was blackout drunk @ 10:30 in the morning...

It would be a classic case of delusions of grandeur if you could fit such terminology on a convenience store sign.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this guy and his wife will not be ordering personalized birthday cakes from ShopRite in the near future.

The generic version was much cheaper but Mom is convinced that Tickle Me Elmo is jewish.

This guy lived in a regular house. Can you just imagine what the people out there that live in the trailer parks are like?
