The M and R Trains to Get Eulogized

Tomorrow morning the Straphangers Campaign and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will meet again, this time to hold a “mock funeral” for the M and R trains. They say, "Without new state aid, the MTA is proposing to eliminate parts of these subway lines, while also raising transit fares." They'll be grieving at the Court Street subway station in downtown Brooklyn mid-morning. When asked what was going on with the R, we were told: "NYC Transit is going to shutter 5 stations on the line between 11 pm and 6 am." Tomorrow's ceremony follows the farewell to the Z train—yet still, the W is getting nothing but disrespect!

Wait... the R? Since when?

The R? They would close the Court and Lawrence stations and eliminate service to Bay Ridge?

Per NYPIRG's site (http://www.straphangers.org/fare/facts_service_cuts.pdf)

This article is very poorly worded and has a very confusing title.
The M and R are not going away like the Z, they have evening station closures. And the M route is shortened.

I'm all for cutesy internet blogger style journalism, but lets at least keep the facts straight & clear if we're going to pose as a news source.

The article is perfectly worded. It says they're eulogizing the five stations that will be shuttered. I understood that on the first read...

So the R shuttle at night out in Bay Ridge will be only making three out of its usual eight stops once the five are closed?
