Post Pinocchios Paterson Over Leaks

2009_01_nyppatpin.jpg With numerous "sources" giving varied rumored reasons for why Caroline Kennedy ceased her Senate bid—taxes, Uncle Ted, a nanny, an affair— many people criticized the leaks; Mayor Bloomberg called them "cheap, dirty politics." While Governor Paterson admitted leaks were coming from his staff and condemned then, he refused to investigate them and claimed he doesn't know who made the leaks. However, Post's Fred Dicker says Paterson is a "liar. The person responsible for the smear was an individual whose identity is well known to the press, whose full-time job is to do the governor's bidding, and who is intelligent enough not to call reporters to damage Kennedy's reputation without approval from the top - and that means Paterson." Driving home the point, the Post Photoshopped Pinocchio's nose (and hat and hair and tie) on the governor. Paterson later said, "I had nothing to do with any negative characterizations of any of the candidates, particularly Caroline Kennedy, who withdrew from the process." If people's noses REALLY grew when they lied you American bastards couldn't even ride the subways without poking each others eyes out.

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

Paterson couldn't even pass the bar exam and blamed it on the accommodations even though amanuensis read him the questions and transcribed his answers.

    Looks like Blago to me

Well? What is the real reason, you know, that Caroline Schlossberg withdrew her bid to be senator? Anybody know, you know, wah mean?

If Dave is Pinocchio then Uncle Ted is 'Honest John' and Shelly is the Blue Fairy.

I hope Paterson enjoys his time as Governor. He's created a lot of enemies.

  • Spirit of 76

Sure has. And not just powerful ones, he's alienated many of the most important ones: voters. Can anyone remember the last time he did something right? Stick a fork in him, he's pretty much done.

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

wow, he really do a hatchet job on Caroline Kennedy.

  • I found Paterson's Pinocchio hair to look rather Blagojevich-ian.

    Pass that along to Chicagoist

    ;-)

  • Give it up! Murdoch, Ted - enough with the revenge crusade (also reported by the Post). In the end, all people will remember was how embarrassing Caroline was, her "I changed my mind, wait I didn't, wait, I did again" if any. We have a new Senator in NY. No one even remembers the so called rumors - seems they are simply protesting too much there.

If we are talking dirty politics, let's consider Ted accusing the Clintons of racism.

Say Good Night Kennedys! It's late and we're tired of you.
