Video: NBC Rejects PETA's Superbowl Ad

Of all the ads to be blocked from running during the Superbowl, who would have thought it would be PETA's? The organization submitted the below commercial, "which features a bevy of beauties who are powerless to resist the temptation of veggie love"—but NBC came up with a laundry list of edits that would need to be made before they considered airing it. Some of their cuts included: "touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli, rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin, asparagus on her lap appearing as if it is ready to be inserted into vagina"...PETA is making us redder than a rare steak! Here's the commercial that was deeemed too hot for TV:

NBC's full rejection letter can be found through PETA's site. Wonder if they would have approved this ad for their wing-lovin' fans. Recently PETA sexed up their anti-carriage horse ads with a naked Kristen Johnston.

Those girls are hot, i wish I was the vegetable in that ad.

I wish you were the vegetable here.

Conservative-controlled media politics and double standards. Let's face it, the ad is as harmless. Bacardi's Mojito ad is much worse. At least PETA's ad is honest about what they are selling. Bacardi's ad is downright creepy.

Remember its okay to k!ll but not okay to make love and live in peace. That is NBC programming

There's nothing like going down on your girl after she has eaten asparagus or brocolli for dinner.

Vegetarians have better sex? Myth. Commercial was fit for TV... NBC just doesn't agree with PETA's politics.

You're crazy if you think the Mojito ad is racier than the PETA one. And the claim that vegetarians have better sex is a spurious one.

No the Mojito is misleading and it promote Alcohol. have you seen the BE more like Kanye alcohol ads in the subway targeting blacks and latino kids to drink. NBC promotes violence and misleading ads for the evil corporations that make money and makes us sick. How many more of us have to die before we wake up to the truth?

how would you know, I can't imagine any living being having sex with you. how much did it cost you. Peta AD is not deceptive and doesn't promote any vices. NBC promotes alcohol and fatty foods with MISLEADING Ads.

To hell with NBC and the Stupor Bowl.

5 dollar foot long stomach churning sandwich ads up the asshole for months and this is deemed offensive? it is stupid but no worse than a someone screaming at you about stain removing cleaners

"Better sex" with animals is what they meant.

IS that what you do with those carriage horses, He is one of the drivers telling this woman to suck his horse' dick.

I believe the NFL, not NBC, has the final say on which commercials are allowed.

The PETA lunatics are in the news again. Must be time to go out for juicy cheeseburger.

I say run the ad, let PETA waste their money. Humans are omnivorous - that means it's natural to eat meat too. No amount of silly propaganda will change that.

the best arguments in support of a meat-free diet remain ecological, ethical, and health concerns.

No it does wonder for your health. I been in my best form since I became vegetarian and now vegan. The waste produced per day by one dairy cow is equal to that of 20-40 people. animal waste can pollute rivers and underground drinking water supplies

Go ahead and be a vegan, no one gives a damn. But don't try to make us meat lovers feel guilty about have a delicious juicy hamburger either.

ganghsicon, i read the link you posted and what he said our milk is Wrong. Milk is the worst thing for a body.

milk is delicious, I drink 2 gallons/week myself. that is all.

Yeah, eat vegan, shit wicker furniture!

Memo to PETA: Animals eat other animals too. Fish too.

Compared to ads from more civilized nations, this is tame.

I think I speak for every sane human being when I say: please keep the lunatics at PETA off of my television and, in general, out of my life as completely as possible.

PETA and its members give even people who believe in animal rights a bad name.

your statement of sanity speaks for itself. How does Peta give animal rights a bad name? I noted Peta's critics are mostly animals abusers who profit from the exploitation and suffering of animals. Also please don't say Peta exploits women. those women are mostly volunteers who fight for their beliefs. I bet you have no problem with those clubs that have women swinging in poles and those porno sites that you probably download.

Felixthecat, given the number of comments you posted on this thread and your vehement stance on animal rights, you're probably not the best judge regarding the appropriateness of this PETA ad.

Nothing wrong with that, but just sayin'.

So passion and knowledge on an issue disqualifies a person?

No, but it certainly makes them biased towards a particular opinion.

I'm all for people having great sex with vegetables.

PETA can hire Hef, Larry Flynt and Spencer Tunick to choreograph the Super Bowl halftime show.

I'm still not giving up hamburgers.

Partially vegetarian feminist here (I eat fish). I have a problem with the ad. I also don't have a TV, so what does it matter.

Felix The Cat,

Good for you for standing up for Peta. For those of you who are bashing Peta, you might want to take a visit to their website and see the facts, see what they are really about. While you're at it, turn off Bill O'Reily (that means you, Ides of March).

Um, I meant to say that I DON'T have a problem with the ad.

I'm all for animal rights, but you guys defending PETA seem to have selective memories. Remember "Your Mommy Kills Animals", a very graphic comic book they produced for little kids? Remember when they threw paint at fur coats, and even a dead raccoon at a fashion editor while she was eating, scrawled "Fur Hag" in blood on her home doorsteps, and sent her a box of maggot-infested animal innards? You're letting their docile name fool you into believing that they're nothing more than benevolent animal lovers when they're really no different from abortion clinic bombers.

As a self-styled feminist, how can you not believe that this ad exploits women, objectifies them as sex objects for the mostly male superbowl audience?

The ad is hot. PETA is whatever. I'm all for people being vegetarian if they choose to. I also think people should know where their meat comes from. I've watched the PETA videos of slaughterhouses. And I'm cooking chicken tonight. Had tuna for lunch. Probably eat beef tomorrow. I can take it. Killing animals is gruesome. But it is not immoral.

Also, I do believe that the animal shouldn't be put through any more pain than is necessary. I'm all for that.

Oh yeah, and all for more ads w/naked women.

Kudos to NBC for blocking the PETA lunatics and their ineffective ad, considering the Super Bowl audience consists of meat loving and beer chugging men.

Also Gothamist needs reconsider posting these PETA related posts (where's the NYC connection?), since it gives felixthediseasedcat to flame this post with its insane comments. People who are against PETA are all animal abusers, are you fuckin nuts!? Many sane animal lovers are against PETA, and their stupid tactics ain't helping the poor animals one bit. I am gonna have myself a plate of sea kitten in honor of PETA tonight.

Dude69, how about some basic reading comprehension?, I stated mostly not all. Second the fact that you resort to juvenile name calling, "felixthedeiseasedcat",is pathetic. Are you really a dude? Perhaps you are limited but do try to think outside the box. The Super Bowl venue is not in NYC nor is any NYC team playing, does it mean gothamist should covered the story? Also, your obsession with Peta is quite defensive. I wouldn't be surprised if you are an animal abuser. Your need to post what you are eating in honor of Peta reflects your obsession with Peta and its cause.

"Second the fact that you resort to juvenile name calling..."

"I bet you have no problem with those clubs that have women swinging in poles and those porno sites that you probably download."

At least you didn't call him names

this ad needs a few steaks in it.

When PETA actually learns what ethical treatment of ALL living beings is about (throwing fake blood at people is HIGHLY unethical) then people might actually listen to what they have to say. Until then, those of us who do treat all living things ethically will continue to ignore them.

I totally agree with the decision by NBC not to air the spot. While i agree that no one should ever abuse or hurt an animal, i believe that peta goes to far and falls off the radical deep end and their means do not justify the ends. Thats why PETA is not taken seriously by alot of animal lovers. By running the spots that they make and putting out comic books for kids (your mommy kills animals to name one) and the other antics that they engage in, puts them in the same catagory as the "People" they claim abuse animals. Protecting animals is a noble cause, but PETA and their actions are the wrong approach to deal with and end the abuse of animals.
