Kennedys Think Caroline is Bringing Shame-a-lot

2009_01_carokh.jpg It sounds like the Camelot clan is about as fond of Caroline as they were of William Kennedy Smith in the early nineties right now. Reports are that those close to Ted Kennedy are furious over Caroline apparently using her uncle's health struggles as an apparent smoke screen to drop out of her bid for Senate. One aide told Time, "It looks horrible. It makes him look like he is at death's door." And someone "close to the family" added insult to injury telling the magazine, "Everything that was special about her got stripped away." The latest report from the Times on why Kennedy withdrew says that the "personal reason" speculated as a motivation today is "problems involving taxes and a household employee." And if his niece crying wolf on his condition wasn't bad enough, Ted Kennedy's wikipedia page was just edited to claim he had died on Tuesday.

"Everything that was special about her got stripped away."
Other than being one of the few people in her family to live into her 50s without getting murdered or murdering someone else, what's so special about her?

I disagree with you. She is John F Kennedy's daughter and she's an icon. This is a sad day in NY politics. Read her wikipedia entry.

Ah ha!

Dial 1-900-SHAME-A-LOT and kick them nasty thoughts.

The "Uncle Ted is ill" explanation never made much sense. Wouldn't working in the same building enable Caroline to be much closer to her uncle?

The man who left a young woman to drown in his car while he slept off a hangover and then called his lawyer before rescue services isn't seriously pontificating about shame is he?

As a matter of fact, he hasn't said anything. But thanks for the unnecessary Kopechne reference; it's always classy to smugly invoke an innocent woman's demise for political discourse points rather than any real concern for her passing.

Do me a favor open the door and let 'em in.

The Kennedys are scumbags. From the bootlegger Joseph P. to the death by Oldsmobile Teddy they are all bad. They just need to go away or just shut up.

Paterson has really come across as a pandering, indecisive fool during the silly drawn-out soap opera.

Amazing that the crook in Illinois looked more decisive and got it all done and over with. Yet, here we are still not knowing.

This is what you get for dealing with dynasties. And for even considering someone like her, who volunteered herself out of the blue, from a sense of entitlement.

She may have been innocent, but he was the villain.

I thoroughly believe she dropped out because she knew she wasn't gonna get it... I mean what makes her think she's qualified for this. It seemed a bit arrogant to me. If she's truly interested in politics why not launch a campaign next time around.

Aside from that it's very douchey to say she has had something stripped away because of this... and that was her own family!

My how the tide has turned.

Yeah, amazing how quickly the golden veneer turns to tarnish on fake stuff. I've really had enough of the Kennedy decadence. It's a new century. Time to move on from that Kennedy dream. They're all beginning to seem like poorer and poorer reproductions, each one a little more degraded from the original.

"Everything that was special about her got stripped away."

At least someone is saying out loud that the myth and mystique of Caroline Kennedy has fallen on it's face. Kind of wish she was the intended UN Ambassador as the rumor mill put it out right after November 4th.

I think Paterson was just being polite, and was never gonna give it to her. He doesn't look like a damn fool to me. He was probably waiting and hoping for something like this to come up. For all we know, he knew it was coming and that's what he was stalling for.

You give Paterson more credit than he deserved. He has a short attention span probably due to his prior cocaine use.

"It looks horrible. It makes him look like he is at death's door."

Actually, that's EXACTLY where he is. And he's ringing that doorbell like crazy.
