Rex Ryan — The New Sheriff In Town

Rex Ryan stepped to the podium and announced that he expects his team to meet President Obama in the next few years as Super Bowl winners. It was the start of an entertaining and feisty press conference from a coach who clearly doesn’t lack confidence and learned a number of lessons from his father, Buddy. Ryan was not as confident on other burning topics. While saying that “Anybody would want Brett Favre to be their quarterback,” he did add, “All the particulars we’ll get into later. The rest of it, I’m not prepared to answer.” He mentioned assistants from Eric Mangini’s staff who would be joining his, but admitted he still needs to talk to Brian Schottenheimer.

But, those were about the only minutes when he didn’t seem confident. Ryan added that "The message to the rest of the league is, hey, the Jets are coming, and we're going to give you everything we got. And I think that's going to be more than you can handle." He also added talked about the team's new mentality, "We go full-speed. We will be an aggressive football team and we will be a physical football team, and "If you take a swipe at one of ours, we’ll take two swipes at one of yours."

It’s the confidence his father was famous for, let’s just hope Rex doesn’t emulate Dad and feel the need to punch Kevin Gilbride when the Jets play the Giants next season.

You are right about that SikBug, but they traditionally play in the exhibition season. I should have made that clearer in my post.

Right on, it doesn't matter much about that being clearer, it just made me want to go check because that might mean the Skins are playing the Jets again and another chance to watch a game up here.

Let's be honest, didn't everyone want to punch Kevin Gilbride in the face during that playoff debacle against the the Eagles?

Buddy was ahead of his time.

Not that it really matters all that much, but I don't believe the Jets and Giants are playing each other next season, at least not regular season.

    N.Y. Giants

Home: Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, Carolina, Arizona, Oakland, San Diego

Away: Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Denver, Kansas City
