Bloomberg's Recent Independence Party Donations

2009_01_bloombind.jpg

Politicker NY noticed how a $500,000 check, from the coffers of one Michael R. Bloomberg, arrived at the state Independence Party a day after upstate billionaire Tom Golisano announced he'd fund an effort against the term limits extension.

Over the weekend, the Post reported that Bloomberg and Golisano were teaming up to revamp the Independence Party, offering some hypotheses why Bloomberg would love to have Golisano on his side (for instance, Golisano might stop interfering about term limits). So far, our billionaire mayor has sent $1.2 million to the Independence Party, and, regarding Bloomberg's $500,000 donation on August 25, 2008: That was a few days after his meeting with various media moguls about a third term (weeks before Bloomberg officially announced his third term dreams).

LOL at billionaire Eli Broad's treacly little $50k donation. Maybe if KB Homes sold more than 12 houses in December, he could have matched Bloomberg.

Comments please, starting with Mr. Bloomberg.

I think this shows that third parties are just as crooked and corrupt as the two mainstream parties.

I'm all for a viable third party to shake up the entrenched 2-party cartel we have in place now but this one seems to exist more for one man's convenience rather than to advance any core political principles.

I'm legally changing my name to Independence Party.
