Fleet Foxes to Play SNL this Weekend
After topping several year-end lists in 2008, Fleet Foxes are kicking the new year off in a big way: they'll be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend, appearing alongside host Rosario Dawson. While the show usually favors commercial successes such as David Cook or Beyoncé to appear over critical darlings such as these, the Seattle band is not alone. They are one of a handful of indie bands who have been tapped to appear on the show over the last couple of years, including Vampire Weekend, The Arcade Fire and Spoon last season. As the humor on the show has shifted towards a younger, more independent style over the years, it's no surprise that the musical guests occasionally have as well. Just because the show can attract the A-List names doesn't mean it always should, and an occasional dip into the credibility pool goes a long way to keep the show honest.

SUBJECT: WATCH IT!
The first virus
Was sent on papyrus:
"Scratch here
And Pharaoh'll appear."
Then came the pigeon
With a newsy smidgen:
"Open this note
For stock market quote."
The current wrinkle:
"Click on linkle,
See Obama
In his pajama
Writing the speech
Awaited by each,
His inauguration
Talk to the nation."
Tricky linky,
Computer sinky.
