Pencil This In

moriarty0109.jpg MUSIC: The Guardian called Moriarty (pictured): “A ramshackle olde worlde acoustic outfit with a theatrical bent and a tendency to dress like 1930s Prohibition outlaws who make a mess of sound that takes in folk, country, blues, jazz and cabaret.” They just played Zebulon in Brooklyn, and now they're on to Joe's Pub—sounds like something you don't want to miss!

7:30 p.m. // Joe's Pub [425 Lafayette St] // $15

SCIENCE: The Secret Science Club presents "Living Skyscrapers" tongiht, and invite you to "Step into the great glass elevator...the Secret Science Club is heading skyward with microbiologist and ecologist Dickson Despommier, whose ambitious project to create vertical farms in urban skyscrapers could radically re-vision the way we live—and eat." Dr. Despommier is a professor of environmental science and public health at Columbia University, and asks, "How might urban sky farms reduce global warming" and much more. The evening's cocktail: the Mile Highball (you won’t be vertical for long).

8 p.m. // Union Hall [702 Union St, Brooklyn] // Free

THEATER: The cut-ups behind All Wear Bowlers, the surreal vaudeville extravaganza hailed by the Times for its "daring and ingenuity," are back in town for two nights only with their latest opus, Amazingland. Little is known about this new spectacle, but considering the talent involved, it's definitely worth going in blind. Here's their cryptic definition of Amazingland (noun): "A place, zone or state. Where your mind is blown clean through the back of your head by the sheer grace and unbelievability of a magical performance. Where your jaw drops helplessly to your knees, you are overwhelmed in a barrage of glitz, glam and shazam — and you wonder — where am I?" (Part of HERE Art Center's Culturemart festival.) - John Del Signore

8:30 p.m. // HERE [145 Sixth Avenue] // $15

COMEDY: "Neutrino returns for one night only of their one-of-a-kind improvised movie! Formed in 1999, this eight-member team has toured the country and broke new improvisational ground with the Neutrino Video Projects. With three cameras and a large technical crew, Neutrino takes to the streets to shoot, edit, score, and mix a completely improvised movie in the time it takes for you to watch it. Spontaneous, beautiful, and hilarious, this 'theatrical movie experience' is the first of its kind, with groups all over the country performing under the Neutrino name." PIT also notes this is a rare chance to see the troupe in NYC.

9:30 p.m. // PIT [154 W 29th St, 2nd Floor] // $10
