New Jersey as New New York, Again
Though many others have tried and failed in the past, a NY Post scribe is the latest to take on the task of touting New Jersey as the new New York. Haven't you heard? "If you like Downtown Brooklyn you'll love Newark," which is sort of the equivalent of someone in Chicago saying Gary, Indiana is just as lovable as the Windy City. What have the rest of New York's neighborhoods been compared to this time around?
- The Upper West Side = Montclair: In 2007 Montclair was Park Slope West, now it's moved on up to the UWS (allegedly because of its Bowery Presents venue that features shows from the likes of Counting Crows and John Legend).
- SoHo = Red Bank: Allegedly "Red Bank's not a pretentious town at all," soooo not at all like SoHo then.
- Lower Manhattan = Jersey City: they're allegedly both "the spot for bankers and ladies who lunch and shop at Tia's Place for AG jeans and Tibi dresses." Tibi what...can anyone confirm?
- And the Bowery = Atlantic City: because of the new hotel, the Chelsea, whose 5th floor lounge area was created by the Beatrice Inn boys (a bar that's in...the West Village).
