Marilyn Dorato, president of the Greenwich Village Block Association and next-door neighbor of Waverly Inn, used to be a vocal critic of the celebrity haunt because of all the idling limos, paparazzi and all-around obstreperousness erupting from the exclusive restaurant. But some locals who still hate the place say she changed her tune once co-owner Graydon Carter hooked her up with a regular table and put her photo in his magazine, a little publication called Vanity Fair. Of course, Dorato insists it isn't the star treatment that won her over, but the security firm hired by Carter to control the limo traffic, and the new late morning garbage pick-up time. She tells the Post, "I'm treated very well, but I don't think it's a payoff." Obviously not! Note to Graydon: We too want to destroy the Waverly Inn, and have no dinner plans tonight.

I want to build high rise condos on the other side of Dorato's house. I promise her 24 hr concierge service and pet grooming gratis..
...she [Marilyn Dorato] changed her tune once co-owner Graydon Carter hooked her up with a regular table and put her photo in his magazine, a little publication called Vanity Fair.
Pathetic. She was fighting a cause and was bought out. Doesn't she understand she lost and now looks like the fool? Idiots!
I believe the word you were looking for is "Co-opted."
Everyone has their price.
Good strategy by Waverly management: "keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
What an idiot. Trust me, nothing has changed about the limo traffic. And we have summer to look forward to when the SUV limos line Bank, Waveryl, and West 4th street leaving their engines running so the celebs - the ones telling YOU AND ME to be more "green" and mind our carbon footprint -- can have their limo's air conditioning blasting the whole time they're eating and drinking in the Waverly Inn.
Thanks Marilyn, thanks Graydon.
Woah...waaaiiit a minute: an SUV limo just pulled up in front of my apartment and the driver is motioning for me to get in. And Carter's assistant just emailed me asking if I'd like a table for 4 at 8. I take it all back, long live Waverly Inn.
Everyone seems most anxious to rush to judgement. It is my understanding that Marilyn Dorato's complaint with the previous owners of Ye Waverly Inn was a noise issue. Smokers loudly gathering in front and private parties in the garden area. Since Mr. Carter took over, those issues have been resolved.
Is it so wrong that she would occasionally have dinner there? Or that her pictue appear in Vanity Fair?
So I guess if St. Vincent's Hospital gives her special treatment or free/reduced drugs, she will probably suddenly like the idea of the new hospital building.
Can she be any fuller of shit?
