Pencil This In

0109sprouseharry.jpg REMINDER: Our interviewee yesterday, Aziz Ansari, is at Comix all weekend—buy tickets! And today's interview subject has a show going on Sunday that's kid-friendly!

ART: Artist Stephen Sprouse died in 2004, but at the time was preparing a lifetime retrospective of his work. Tonight "Rock on Mars" opens at the Deitch Projects, and will serve to be the exhibit he never finished. Expect to lay your eyes on some rare works that depict "stacks of loudspeakers, Sid Vicious with his pants down, and an Iggy Pop crucifixion." In conjunction, Marc Jacobs has created a new collection for Louis Vuitton inspired by Sprouse, who was also "one of the most influential fashion designers of his time."

Friday // 6 to 9 p.m. // Deitch Projects [18 Wooster St]

THEATER: There's an embarrassment of riches for anyone who digs cutting-edge theater this weekend—and if you think you don't, this is the time to drop 15 bucks and see what you've been missing. On Wednesday Under the Radar, the international gathering of new performance, took over the Public Theater and other sites around town, including an unidentified office where you can become an audience of one. Among tonight's many intriguing offerings is Architecting, by The TEAM and the National Theatre of Scotland (Black Watch). Described as "a multi-media road tripping requiem for modern America...in which aggressive athleticism is combined with wicked humor, video crashes against song," the show was praised by The Scotsman for achieving "extraordinary moments of humor and beauty and pure theatrical energy" — John Del Signore

Friday // 8 p.m. // The Public Theater [425 Lafayette St] // $15

PHOTOGRAPHS: MoCNY has a gallery tour of "Broken Glass: Photographs of the South Bronx by Ray Mortenson" this weekend. "Join curator Sean Corcoran and photographer Ray Mortenson for a tour of the Museum’s exhibition of photographs Mortenson took of the South Bronx between 1982 and 1984, which document the aftermath of the widespread urban economic crisis that plagued New York in the 1970s."

Saturday // 1 p.m. // Museum of the City of New York [1220 Fifth Ave] // Free with museum admission

EVENT: No Pants Day is here! Sure, it's snowing tomorrow, but the underground should be warm enough to de-pants. Join the other half-naked pranksters tomorrow, and maybe wipe down that subway seat before placing your bare skin on it.

Saturday // 3 p.m. // Meet at Foley Square // Details here

MUSIC: Crystal Stilts, Tyvek, Box Elders, Medication and Kid Romance are at Market Hotel this Saturday. Not exactly the kind of venue you want to spend too many hours in, but definitely get there for the headliner, who are worth the trek on the JMZ.

Saturday // 8 p.m. // Market Hotel [1142 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn] // $9

THEATER: PS 122 is unleashing COIL, their annual whirlwind of international avant-garde performance art and dance. Prominent among the options is Pent Up: A Revenge Dance, the work of magnetic Richard Foreman veteran Okwui Okpokwasili, who has become something of a downtown alt-theater star in her own right. In this "modern multi-character folktale, she portrays a woman in exile that sees and seeks revenge as a way of reconciling her present impoverished condition with the belief that she's a direct descendant of the sun." More here. — John Del Signore

Sunday // 7:30 p.m. // PS 122 [150 First Ave at East 9th St] // $20

EVENT: This Sunday 3rd Ward will hold another Moviehouse , bringing local filmmaking to its space. This time around you'll get three Brooklyn Bands and their music videos: Excepter, Ana Lola Roman and Top Step. A discussion and live performances will follow!

Sunday // 7 p.m. // 3rd Ward [195 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn] // Free
