NJ Residents Spot UFO (Or Just Road Flares) Overhead

2009_01_ufo.jpg Some NJ residents spotted an odd formation of flashing red lights on Monday night (perhaps right when New Yorkers were smelling maple syrup) and wondered if we are not alone. Here's an excerpt of a MUFON report (via a YouTube video):

As an amateur astronomer of nearly 20 years experience, this is the second time I have seen something in the sky that is difficult to explain. I was on my apartment stoop smoking a cigarette when my neighbor, who was just coming home after parking his car in our complexs lot, called my attention to something around the corner of the building.

I moved to share his line of sight and immediately saw an equilateral triangle composed of six red lights. The lights shone at approximately -2.5 magnitude and covered an area of roughly 9 square degrees in the sky. Three lights marked each of the triangles corners, and three others were arranged outside around them, forming a larger triangle, equal in proportion and orientation to the inner one. As I watched, the individual points were in motion with respect to each other, but the group appeared to hang motionless in the southwest sky. At this point, the approximate alt-az of the lights was 160°(SSE) by 35° elevation.

My Fox NY also spoke to a pilot who saw the lights and found it "a little scary." However, the police say that the lights were caused by road flares attached to helium balloons (but who does that), but you should watch this video and judge for yourself:

Here's another video.

Military Technology exercise. Plain and simple.

The Aliens theory is just a convenient way to cover it up.

  • SikBug

Why would a government spy plane bother using lights that give it away so easily to the naked eye? I understand that spy planes are more for not being detected by technology, but still.

"No way was it a UFO. UFO's would be looking for intelligent life. Why would they waste their time in Jersey after traveling light years to get here?"

They heard about the 25% herpes rate in NYC & decided it was more wise to stay in Jersey.

  • JacqueMehoff

    this is exciting.

I'm fattening myself up to welcome our new overlords.

but knowing aliens, they'll probably probe the females.

kang & kodos find this most amusing.

Just proves what I already believed. :-)

Take the craft, the movements, the terrain analysis and the like.

Just like the NYPD and the chopper was watching us aboveground, this governmental craft was also looking at us from above. As to who was flying it, and who he responded to, most likely the US Government.

Not sure if this video had the child saying call the military in it. I think it did. But one can't call the military and do anything they don't already know. A call to the military would accomplish nothing. Emails to scientists who work on such projects or have knowledge on these crafts would be preferable or sitting in classes at universities to learn what happened or sitting on youtube and watching the lectures or taking courses about such things such at universities.

Why was it here? It was not alien!

It was GOVERNMENTAL IN NATURE. As to what it wanted, just like the NYPD Chopper overhead in NYC, they probably are just protecting the US Homeland against terrorist threats as alot of changes now are underway.

Either that or they are spying on me and violating all the articles of the constitution by using those craft to empower the New World Order. You be the judge on that one. :-)

    Ooooh weee ooooohhh

  • road flares attached to a balloon? that's the best they could do? i'll leave it to the pilots, they have the best view and usually see stuff like this often.

    The creature in the sky

    Got sucked in a hole

Now there's a hole in the sky

    And the ground's not cold

And if the ground's not cold

    Everything is gonna burn

    We'll all take turns

    I'll get mine, too

    This monkey's gone to heaven

UFOs have been seen by pilots for years and military technologies have increased for decades now.

This is nothing new. Military bases or police when asked, often come up with excuses like oh it was just flares or balloons and since the technology is located above you, and you can't see it or understand the principles if its real or not and the like. So the public buys the explanation while in at least some incidents, the explanation given was false.

Seems like a UFO was in the westward region right after the mountains in Morris County NJ.

    http://wcbstv.com/local/strange.lights.ufo.2.901376.html

If you look at satellite imagery you realize that this portion is right after where the mountain range ends.

A terrain map combined with understanding of modern techologies quickly puts into perspective what was going on here even though the police and the news journalists did not comprehend enough to even do a terrain analysis.

Notice how this is the area that is furthest west from NY Metro that has no mountain blackage. It is the exact spot you would expect for something to be seen even without any weird lights showing up.

I brought up this incident because of the NYPD Chopper that people were talking about last time and the situation in Gaza whereby Bloomberg went with Ray Kelly to Israel.

With Al Qaeda now taking a strong stance and with Hamas being active in the middle east as ever and with a new president coming soon, with todays new incoming Congress, as well as changes at the CIA, the entire picture of what happened makes more sense than ever before.

I posted this on another forum elsewhere and saw that you picked up the story here. This was no accident, and was the 2nd incident of UFO's reported in New Jersey in recent months. The craft are definitely REAL, and are not flares. Modern aviation and propulsion has increased incrementally to technological levels that far exceed craft such as the Stealth Bomber which are now old technologies. The craft is definitely real.

I will leave judgement as to the users to say who had the craft up (My own knowledge base makes me believe that its owned by "We the people of the United States which means our own citizens." And the question is why it was up in that location and that time period of which I already posted above.

As far as the maple syrup smell, I would not know if any propulsion technologies or any materials of any craft could cause such. I don't know where it came from, what could cause such a smell and if it is hazardous. However I am sure some smart folks can figure it out. I do know that some government workers working in classified projects have paid the ultimate price with their lives and some have even died on cancer working on projects. So many of these classified projects come with materials which could pose risks as well for all we know.

The balloons explanation is plausible. But I had the same question as donner. Who is wasting their time to do this?

Then again, this is around the same part of the state where that guy was shining lasers at airplanes, and then blamed it on his 4 year-old daughter.

  • WorksInDUMBO

    I want to believe.

  • NannyState

Strange: most aliens just take the GW into Jersey.

  • moocowtoo

    >The lights look like they stay uniform relative to each

They are in the same atmosphere if the wind goes one way, all the balloons will go that way too, especially for the short time in which the video was taken.

I for one welcome our new UFO maple syrup fueled overlords.

  • Nyctini11

OMG, the cops said what??? AND they are the same geniuses that are here to protect us?? HELLLLLPPPPPP!!!

  • Pull My Finger

Where any of these people abducted and probed rectally?

  • I don't buy the road flare-on-balloons explanation. The lights look like they stay uniform relative to each...so were the balloons on a frame or something? (I believe the truth is out there!)

  • donner

Can someone please explain why helium balloons would be attached to road flares?

  • jm1975

    Where are Mulder and Scully?

  • citizenerased

    Maple syrup fueled Ufo's

    Brilliant
