- A rescue operation is under way to remove 180 cats from a Long Island home. Newsday reports the owner is giving up the felines willing because she cannot afford to feed them anymore.
- A contractor was charged with stealing $1.2 million from the Deutsche Bank building demolition project. Oddly enough, the city allowed Robert Chiarappa to stay on the project, though he worked for questionable sub-contractor John Galt Corp., which was taken off the job.
- Smith Street restaurant Patois is closing; owner Alan Harding says they are looking at other spaces for possible new locations.
- Because of layoffs at CBS News, the lead reporter for its stories on Israel is usually the London-based Mark Phillips. The Observer notes that's just 2,200 miles away!
