Sure, a Queens man was fined for feeding pigeons in his backyard*, but Westchester County officials can't touch a resident who welcomes many, many geese to his yard. The Post took this video of the scene at Westchester County resident Gary Lundqvist's house, which apparently gets many Canadian fowl during its migration.
When neighbors were upset about the noise and droppings, Yorktown officials "briefly considered an ordinance in 2005 to ban large-scale bird feeding before deciding they couldn't legislate against activities on private property." Lundqvist, annoyed at the reporters, said, "This is private property. There is nothing unlawful going on here. They [the geese] don't stay here at night."
*Cecil Pitts, who is fighting his fine from the NYC Department of Health, was most recently told he "failed to abide by all the proper legal avenues before filing a lawsuit against the city."
