In case you haven't noticed, Manhattan's winter Restaurant Week is fast approaching, and participating eateries are now accepting reservations for their prix fixe specials (three-course lunches for $24.07 and dinners for $35). The confusingly named "week" is actually 12 days long, running in two intervals from January 18th through the 23rd, then continuing from the 25th through the 30th. But whatever. The key here is to do a little research, because while the Restaurant Week prix fixe at, say, 21 Club isn't much cheaper than their usual $40 pre-theater dinner prix fixe, there are some sweet deals to be had.

Was the prix fix for Rest. Week last year $25 for dinner or am I crazy? This just doesn't really seem like a great deal to me. Unless you are going to like Jean George or The London or something over the top. Meh.
These have been the normal prices for Restaurant Week for a couple years now. All the Jean Georges restaurants (Jean Georges, Vong, Spice Market, etc.) now offer a $35 menu anyway, so Restaurant Week is not a great deal and probably more difficult to get a table. If you're a deal hunter, there aren't as many deals as there used to be since so many restaurants now offer prix-fixe menus around $35. That said, it's a great opportunity to try new restaurants that you might not ordinarily venture to.
If Jean George has a standard $35 prix fix for dinner, that is def. a new thing. RW is a good promotion over all I guess. Draws a lot of attention and makes you want to try new spots, you are right. Bon Appetite!
Huh? The normal Anthos prix fixe is only $38.
