Cop Body-Slamming Cyclist Video Surfaces, July 28: Tensions between cyclists and the NYPD have been wary and simmering since the 2004 Republican National Convention, when Critical Mass bike rides became more popular (the city unsuccessfully tried to bar the ride). But a video of a police officer shoving a cyclist emergedtold the Daily News, "The video is bad—what can you say?" In December, Pogan pleaded not guilty to assault and filing a false report.
