Here are our picks for the top stories that affected NYC and our state this year. It's been a very eventful year.
Pope Benedict Visits NYC, April 18: Making his first trip to New York City since 1988—and his first as the ponitff—Pope Benedict XVI arrived to fanfare. He made some historic firsts: He met with Catholic Church sex abuse victims (in D.C.), visited a synagogue, asked for healing at Ground Zero and gave communion to divorced former mayor Rudy Giuliani! The highlight of his trip was a mass to over 60,000 at Yankee Stadium, where one attendee said, "I have never seen Yankee Stadium so beautiful, and I have season's tickets." Every day I give thanks that my wife and kids are healthy and I still have a desk waiting for me. Good luck to you all in 2009!
Thank you for a Year in Review that didn't make me want to barf. Here's to 2009!
You missed the best story of the year... How can you not include the President's near death by shoe? Love him or hate him that had to be one of the top three by my estimate.
