Last Night's Action: Heading Home

  • Miami 24 Jets 17: It doesn't really matter that they lost because even if they had won, they still would not have made the playoffs. What matters is that a team that was 8-3 collapsed down the stretch and finished 9-7. For that you can certainly blame Brett Favre who looked finished most of December, but do you also blame coach Eric Mangini? It sounds like Woody Johnson might. We will learn more at 10am.
  • Minnesota 20 Giants 19: Losing on a last second field goal is tough, but the Giants did what they needed to do in this game. They prepared for the playoffs and didn't suffer any significant injuries. Now they will await next weekend's results to see who their opponent will be on January 11th.
  • Denver 117 Knicks 110: The Knicks are in a tailspin, losing seven of their last ten. You could say that the players are simply not good enough, but some of it may be fatigue. New York is essentially playing with eight or nine guys most nights and they really need to find another guard to round out the roster.

Woody Johnson has no wood for Mangina.

Who's the guy that kept referring to the Jets as the NY Mets of the NFL? Oh, that's right, it was me. Man, this team REALLY sucks. Way to take some of the heat off the Knicks.

I wish the presser were at 10:30am, so there'd be like 30 minutes of Joe Benigno freaking out first.

The Jets always find ways to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory... Interception return for a touchdown, a blocked punt? it ain't easy being green...

This had to have been the most obvious collapse in football history.

The Jets sucked last year. Favre ran out of gas last year with Green Bay because, as great as he once was, he is ancient by NFL standards. The Packers were glad to unload him. Did anyone seriously expect him to hold up to another season's worth of pounding? He had a few good games to start the season then ran out of gas again.

I'm a New Yorker and we're used to failure.
Go Jets?

I'm so glad that when I was a kid I made the right choice about which team to root for.

I remember when I was a kid, the 'Unknown Comic' didn't have children who graffitied their heads.

Looks as if the Unknown Comic and his obese child have experienced some hard times as of late.
