Patersons Will Open Up Governor's Mansion on New Year's

2008_12_albman.jpgIf you happen to be in Albany on New Year's Day, consider registering for a chance to visit the Executive Mansion. The 152-year-old home, whose residents included FDR and Nelson Rockefeller, is open for tours on Thursdays year-round, but this is a chance to see the home decorated for the holidays. Governor David Paterson and First Lady Michelle Paige Paterson stay there during most weekends (the Spitzers and Patakis didn't spend much, if any, time in it). Earlier this month, Paige Paterson took the Times on a tour of the 29,500 square foot mansion which has 40 rooms and an indoor pool; she joked about the 12-person staff, "It’s an adjustment going back to Harlem." I don't know how anyone sleeps there with all that gunfire outside.

FDR, Nelson Rockefeller, David Paterson is there a missing connection in this list of names?

It's kind of like David Dinkens at Gracie mansion. Most of the notables never lived at those places because they could afford not to. Remember when dave bought that expensive headboard?

It sure will be an adjustment going back to Harlem after Dave can't gethis act together and cut some fat out of that budget and stop taxing everything that is animal or mineral derived.

Of course the dude is hanging there. Do you think he would spend the holidays in a rent controlled apartment in Harlem?

  • Toby von Meistersinger

Is Patterson going to charge admission or is he going to spend $4 million and rename it after some Kennedy?
