Fatal Shooting at NJ Roller Rink

2008_12_njrinksh.jpgAuthorities are investigating a brawl that led to a fatal shooting at the Skate 22 roller rink in Union, NJ. The Union County Prosecutor's Office says that 100 people, ages 13 to 25, had been attending a party, "At some point before the shooting, there were two groups of people fighting, words were exchanged and shots rang out." The victim was reportedly a 15 or 16 year old boy who was shot in the head. One witness said groups of girls had been fighting throughout the night and the shooting then resulted in a stampede out of the facility. WABC 7 reports while many of the party goers were held as police searched for the gunmen, "Police were investigating the possibility that several armed men fled the rink in the chaotic rush following the shooting."

I have a feeling that this party was hosted from one of the so-called "street teams" that roam all over Newark advertising parties and having "meetings" in downtown Newark.

It was inevitable this was going to happen. It was just a matter of when.

MFer, I was about to say the same thing!

This happened plenty of times in the 80's.

Roller rink? This just smacks of the 80s! Lovely.

And everybody knows that "roller rink" is just big city words for OK Corral.

So, I know Jay-Z says it's not a good idea to bring a gun to knife-fight, but why would you bring one to a roller rink?
